Naughty Vegan Hot Chocolate

Christmas is only a few weeks away and I must admit it’s one of the most stressful holidays for me! So why not have some naughty hot chocolate?!

This hot chocolate is so good and easy to make! When I was growing up, I always loved drinking hot chocolate and I would always add a little bit of corn starch to make it creamy just as I did in this recipe.

What I didn’t add to my hot chocolate growing up was a big old shot of whiskey! The chocolate and the whiskey are a great combo and don’t worry it’s not enough to get you tipsy (unless you want to add more whiskey 🤫).

Easy step-by-step instructions with video

  1. In a medium saucepan on low heat add the oat milk, cocoa, cinnamon, agave, and mix well.

  2. Once the milk is warm add the chocolate and continue stirring until it melts.

  3. Mix the cornstarch with the water and add it to the hot chocolate, let the mix simmer stirring occasionally and turn off the heat.

  4. Add the vanilla, whiskey, and mix well.

  5. Pour the hot chocolate into a mug, add the coconut whipped topping, the sprinkles, and enjoy warm!

A few tips

  • You can use sugar instead of agave for the recipe.

  • I’m currently obsessed with coconut whipped topping and I can’t have hot chocolate without it! I find mine at ALDI. If you can’t find coconut whipped topping feel free to use vegan marshmallows instead.

  • I use Dominican artificial vanilla instead of pure vanilla extract in all my recipes because I absolutely hate the taste of it! Feel free to use any vanilla you like.

  • This hot chocolate is also delicious on its own without the whiskey.

  • 2 cups oat milk
  • 1 TBSP unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 TBSP agave (or to taste)
  • 2 TBSP vegan chocolate, chopped
  • ½ tsp corn starch + 1 tsp water
  • 1 tsp artificial vanilla
  • 1 shot of whiskey
  • Coconut whipped topping
  • Sprinkles (optional)
